Man killed in Newmarket collision

Air ambulance, the East Anglian ambulance service and Suffolk Fire and Rescue were also called to the scene

A motorist involved in a two-vehicle collision in Newmarket last night has died.

Officers were called to Cotton End Road at 10.22pm yesterday (24 October) following reports of a collision involving a Vauxhall Astra and a Volkswagen Touran.

Air ambulance, the East Anglian ambulance service and Suffolk Fire and Rescue were also called to the scene.

The driver of the Volkswagen, a 40 year old male, was sadly declared deceased at the scene.

The male passenger was also taken to hospital with serious injuries, where they currently remain.

The driver of the Vauxhall sustained minor injuries and the passenger of the Vauxhall sustained serious injuries, both were taken to hospital for further care where they currently remain.

The road was closed between Landwade Road and Red House Stud but has since reopened by 9.15am this morning, Saturday 25 October.

Anyone who saw the collision or has dash cam footage prior to the incident should contact Suffolk Police.
