New appeal in search for missing Christine
The 78 year old has been missing for around six days
Police have made a new appeal to members of the public to help in the ongoing search for missing woman Christine Murton, from Rushmere St Andrew.
Christine, 78, is believed to have left her house mid-morning on Wednesday 12 November on foot and was reported as missing that evening.
Extensive searches for her have been carried out by police officers and the Suffolk Lowland Search and Rescue (SulSAR) team in the Foxhall, Rushmere and Kesgrave areas and people on the ground have been assisted by drones and the police helicopter.
Officers say the public could provide invaluable assistance.
Detective Superintendent Tom Pearse said: “It is now almost a week since Christine went missing and we are becoming increasingly concerned for her welfare. She is vulnerable and could be confused.
“We are grateful for the support we have received so far but I am again asking residents across a wide area including Kesgrave, Martlesham Heath, Bixley, Broke Hall, Purdis Farm, Brightwell and Bucklesham, to check sheds, outbuildings and barns. We are also aware that Christine is a keen walker and can cover quite long distances. Dog walkers should also keep a look-out for her.”
Police officers are tomorrow (Wednesday) handing out leaflets to local residents and passersby.
Another line of enquiry centres around Christine’s car, a blue Toyota Yaris (registration AV14 JKF) that could be in the area. “Anyone who has seen this car, possibly parked outside their home for some time in the Kesgrave, Rushmere or Foxhall areas, should contact officers," said Det Supt Pearse.
"In addition, as Christine was not sure where her car was left prior to last week, it could be further afield in the Hadleigh/Raydon areas.”
Christine is described as white, of slim build, approximately 5ft 7ins in height with short, dark hair and was wearing a purple jacket, blue trousers and carrying a large shoulder bag. She also wears glasses.
