Suffolk man jailed for robbery and false imprisonment in Milton Keynes
44-year-old Shaun Roadnight, from Sudbury, has been sentenced to 15 years in prison
A man from Suffolk has been jailed for 15 years, for the false imprisonment and robbery of a man and woman in Milton Keynes.
44-year-old Shaun Roadnight, of Second Avenue, Sudbury, was found guilty by a majority jury of two counts each of robbery and false imprisonment, as well as one count each of Section 18 grievous bodily harm with intent and assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
He went on trial at St Albans Crown Court in September last year.
On April 11, 2024, Roadnight followed the victim, a woman in her thirties, into her home in Scotch Firs, Wavendon Gate, following her car through the closed electric gates when she opened them and into her home.
An offender hit her on the head, causing her to fall, when she began screaming. Her sounds were muffled when another man put his handover her mouth.
A man in his fifties working in the office upstairs heard her screams, and was beaten up when he came to help.
For the next hour and forty-five minutes, the victims were tied to a bed with cable ties, and doused in the contents of a fire extinguisher.
The man had a glass bottle smashed over his head, and was taken to be asked where the safe was.
A watch was also stolen.
The woman eventually got free, and ran to a neighbour to seek help.
Six minutes later Thames Valley Police arrived, and saw Roadnight acting suspiciously, and after his arrest the stolen watch was found on him.
The male victim suffered a bleed on the brain, three fractured ribs, and bruising, with the female victim also bruised from cable ties and the assault.
Detective Constable Hazel Grant, of the Milton Keynes Priority Crime Team, said: “This was a nasty and vicious assault where the victims were subjected to a prolonged assault not knowing the capabilities of the offenders and whether they would survive the assault.
“The sentence Roadnight received is justified and reflects the gravity of his offences.
“While we did make other arrests in relation to this robbery, we have been unable to charge anyone else and bring the second offender to justice.
“Anyone with information that might help us to do that should call 101 or make a report on our website, quoting reference number 43240164210. It’s never too late to come forward.”
