A man has been jailed for drugs offences occurring outside a prison in Stradishall over two years ago.

43 year old Alinur Rahman, of Code Street in the London Borough of Tower Hamlets, appeared before Chelmsford Crown Court was sentenced to 12 months’ imprisonment.

This is to be served consecutively to a 36-month prison sentence that he is currently subject to, which was imposed at Snaresbrook Crown Court on 11 April 2025 for unrelated matters.

Suffolk police said:

"Rahman had pleaded guilty at a previous hearing at Ipswich Crown Court on 24 May 2024 to the following three offences: attempting to throw a List ‘A’ prohibited article into a prison on behalf of a prisoner (namely cannabis); attempting to throw a List ‘B’ prohibited article into a prison (namely four mobile phones and charging cables); and possession of heroin."
