Man in critical condition in hospital after serious collision in Knodishall
The B119 was closed for over ten hours following the crash on Thursday
A man in his 80s has been left in a critical condition in hospital following a serious car crash in Knodishall in Suffolk.
Officers from Suffolk Police were alerted to an incident taking place on the B1119 just before 4:20pm on Thursday afternoon (July 10th) following a crash involving two cars.
When responders arrived at the incident, they found that a blue Fiat Punto had collided with a grey Tesla, resulting in serious injuries.
Emergency services were called to the scene a short time later, including Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service and the East of England Ambulance Service, as well as an air ambulance.
Following the incident, the driver of the Fiat - a man in his 80s - suffered serious injuries that officers have now described as "life-threatening".
The victim was taken to Ipswich Hospital by ambulance before he was transferred to Addenbrookes' Hospital.
Doctors have said that the man is still being treated in hospital and have described his condition as critical.
As well as this, the driver of the Tesla - a man in his 30s was taken to Ipswich Hospital as a precautionary measure.
Following the crash, the road was closed while forensic investigators were taken to the scene to conduct probes at the scene.
After investigators searched the area for evidence, the road was eventually reopened on Friday morning (July 11th).
Suffolk Police are now appealing to anyone who may have any information regarding the incident to get in touch as soon as possible.
