Councillors in Ipswich are to look at an extension to an order designed to curb anti-social drinking in the town centre.

A Public Spaces Protection Order (PSPO), which gives police the power to take alcohol from or fine anyone causing a public nuisance, is set to expire in November.

Ipswich Borough Council is considering extending the PSPO, subject to feedback from a public consultation.

If it goes ahead, the PSPO would be in force for a further three years - or until November 2026.

The council insists the order "does not affect those considerately enjoying a drink in a public area or park."
