Ipswich town have made two signings in one day, putting pen to paper to bring Darnell Furlong and Iván Azón to Suffolk.

The club say they're excited to announce the signing of defender Darnell Furlong from West Bromwich Albion.

Darnell, 29, joins on a permanent deal for an undisclosed fee, signing a contract which runs to the summer of 2028.

The right-sided defender has captained West Brom on a number of occasions and brings considerable Championship and Premier League experience, having helped the Baggies win promotion to the top-flight during the 2019/20 season.

Speaking after completing the move, Darnell said: “It’s a real privilege to be here.

“I’ve had a look around and I’m really excited and intrigued by the ambition of the club, which is the main reason I wanted to come here.

“I’m looking forward to a new challenge and to kicking on and I can’t wait to get started. Ipswich is a club sending out a real signal of intent and to be a part of that is exciting.”

Darnell came through the youth system at Queens Park Rangers and went on to make 69 senior appearances for his boyhood club, during a spell which also saw him spend time on loan with Northampton Town, Cambridge United and Swindon Town.

He joined West Brom in the summer of 2019 and helped secure promotion to the Premier League in his first season at The Hawthorns, before making 35 appearances in the top division a year later.

The defender made 247 appearances during his time with the Baggies, scoring 11 goals.

He arrives at Portman Road having featured in all three of West Brom’s league games so far this season, and could make his Town debut when the Blues host Derby County at Portman Road on Saturday.

Iván joins on loan from Italian club Como, with the deal running to the end of the 2025/26 campaign.

The 22-year-old came through the youth system at Real Zaragoza and became a regular first-team player for Los Blanquillos, making 150 appearances and scoring 27 goals during his time at the club.

He moved to Serie A side Como in January and now makes the move to Town, becoming the Blues’ ninth new signing of the summer.

“It feels amazing to join the club,” Iván said.

“I feel proud and grateful to be here in Ipswich. It’s a big club with a really big history and I want to work hard and help the team, making the fans proud.

“I have had some great conversations with the Manager, Kieran McKenna, who has given me the confidence to give my best every day.

“Ipswich is a club with a lot of history and very passionate fans, which I can’t wait to experience.

“I am a striker who is strong and quick and will give everything for the team. I can’t wait to wear the shirt and play in front of the supporters.”
