Bury St Edmunds man jailed for child sexual offences
Martin Hogg has been sentenced to nine years in prison.
A 73-year-old man from Bury St Edmunds has been jailed for committing a series of sexual offences against children.
Martin Hogg, who lived on Worcester Close, was sentenced on Monday (17 November) at Cambridge Crown Court to nine years in prison.
Hogg previously admitted to three offences against one child at Ipswich Magistrates Court earlier this year, with the crimes taking place between 31st August 2024 and 15th February 2025. Those offences were sexual communications with a child, causing or inciting a child to engage in sexual activity, and causing or inciting a child to watch sexual activity.
On 22nd May 2025, a further 18 offences were acknowledged following Hogg’s guilty pleas at Cambridge Crown Court. These included meeting children after grooming them, sexual activity with children, and sexual communications with children. These offences involved seven other victims who were all children and occurred in the same time frame.
Another victim was later identified, leading to an additional three crimes considered by the court after Hogg accepted responsibility.
Alongside his jail sentence, Hogg was handed an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order.
Detective Constable Nick Parkinson-Hill, involved in the investigation, described Hogg’s actions as having a significant effect on his victims and their families.
