Suffolk Highways has confirmed the reopening of the A143 following the early completion of repairs to the road's most severe defects.

While the road has been restored to use, road markings haven't yet been reinstated along a section due to Bloor Homes' planned developer works requiring changes to the layout.

Warning signs are in place to alert drivers of the missing road markings.

Further remedial repairs are necessary to fully address damage from the recent record-breaking heatwave and will be scheduled for later in the summer when cooler temperatures are expected.

Suffolk Highways assures a further update on these planned works will be provided soon.

Appreciating the inconvenience caused by the A143 closure, the agency apologised for disruptions and impacts on local communities.

With the road now reopened, assessment of unofficial diversion routes utilised by drivers will be undertaken to determine if repairs are needed.

Meanwhile, monitoring of the A143 section awaiting repairs will continue to ensure preventative measures are available should extreme temperatures return.
