Witnesses urged to assist after reported rape in Stoke-on-Trent park

Police seek information following two incidents in Central Forest Park

Police are appealing for witnesses following a report of rape that occurred in Central Forest Park, Stoke-on-Trent.

The incident took place shortly after midday on Wednesday, 17th June in the Hanley area of the park.

A woman in her 20s reported the assault, describing the suspect as approximately 6ft 2 inches tall, dressed in all black clothing, and with their face covered.

The suspect fled the scene following the attack.

Police are seeking a male jogger who reportedly passed the victim near the car park between 11:30am and 11:50am, as his input may be valuable to the investigation.

Specialist officers are currently providing assistance to the victim.

Local homes are being searched, and CCTV footage is being reviewed as part of the ongoing enquiries.

Earlier, on the same day around 9:05am, a different woman was approached by a man on the path near an ice-cream shop in Central Forest Park.

She was walking her dog when the man showed interest in her pet before departing towards Chell Street.

The suspect in this separate incident is described as a white man, older in appearance, dressed in a green wax jacket, grey shorts, and blue Crocs.

Authorities have not confirmed a connection between the two incidents at this stage but are continuing to investigate.
