Two men have been jailed after a woman was brutally attacked in Stoke-on-Trent.

Police were called after reports that a man was assaulting a woman in the entrance of a block of flats in Meir last November.

Police say Jake Eardley kicked the woman in the head, stamped on her face and even filmed the attack.

Shortly afterwards, Eardley along with Lewis Proctor, dragged her into a nearby flat.

When officers arrived, both Eardley and the victim jumped from a window.

The woman was taken to hospital with severe bruising to her head, face, torso and back.

33-year-old Jake Eardley, of no fixed address, was sentenced to two years and two months after admitting assault causing actual bodily harm.

28-year-old Lewis Proctor, from Meir, was jailed for 15 months after admitting common assault and carrying a knife in public.

Both were sentenced at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court on Thursday 21 August.

Detective Constable Mia Postlethwaite, from Staffordshire Police, said the attack was “particularly violent” and had left a lasting impact on the victim.

She added: “Violence, abuse and intimidation against women and girls is a priority for officers and staff across Staffordshire, and we’re determined to support victims as much as possible and to act robustly against offenders.”
