Two children, a girl and a boy, have been hospitalised after being reportedly hit by a car while crossing the road in Stoke-on-Trent.

Emergency services were called out to Chell Heath Road just after 8.30am this morning (24 June).

They'd received reports of a collision between a white Toyota and two children.

Three ambulances and an air ambulance responded.

The girl suffered serious injuries and the boy suffered potentially serious injuries.

Their injuries aren't believed to be life threatening.

The driver of the car, a woman, declined hospital treatment.

She remained at the scene to help officers with their enquiries.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: "The girl sustained serious injuries and received trauma care from the team of ambulance staff.

"Once stabilised, the girl was conveyed by land ambulance on blue lights and sirens to Royal Stoke University Hospital.

"The boy sustained potentially serious injuries and was treated on scene before being taken to the same hospital for further checks."

Officers are now appealing for anyone with information on the collision to call 101, quoting incident 232 of 24 June.
