Tributes have been paid to a 'much loved' grandad after he was fatally hit by a car in Stoke-on-Trent.

80-year-old Barry Mumford died in hospital after suffering serious head injuries.

Emergency services say they were called at 11.26am on Saturday 28th March to reports of a collision between a red Seat Leon and a pedestrian.

The pedestrian, Barry, died that same day.

In a tribute to him, Barry’s family said he was a “much loved dad, grandad, and brother, taken from us far too soon.

“He was young at heart, active, independent, and always there for his family.

“We are devastated by his loss and ask that anyone who may have seen anything to please come forward.”

Appeal

Officers say the driver of the Seat is helping with their enquiries.

They're appealing for witnesses to come forward.

Anyone with information on the collision (which happened at 11.23am) is being urged to call 101 quoting incident 324 of 28 March.
