A Stoke-on-Trent man who stalked a woman has been jailed for four-years-and-three-months.

35-year-old Thomas Brown admitted stalking causing serious alarm or distress.

The court heard how Brown tried to contact the victim over the phone and on social media, sending messages from multiple different accounts and platforms.

He was also handed an indefinite restraining order against the victim.

PC Benjamin Green, from the Stoke South local policing team, said: “Brown’s actions have had a profound impact on the victim in this case. I’m pleased we’ve been able to secure this outcome for her and to prevent any further harm.

“I’d urge anyone who is a victim of this type of crime to report it to us immediately so that we can take action against those responsible and to safeguard those affected.”
