Staffordshire's suspended police chief engaging 'fully' in investigation
A representative for Chris Noble has provided us a statement after fresh watchdog probe
Chief Constable Chris Noble of Staffordshire Police faces investigations by the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) for potential gross misconduct but remains committed to cooperating fully with the probe.
A spokesperson from the Chief Police Officers Staff Association (CPOSA) conveyed Noble's stance, stating he "continues to engage fully with the IOPC investigation," highlighting his proactive approach toward the investigation.
Fresh allegations
The Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) has confirmed the launch of new investigations into Noble's behavior while serving as Assistant Chief Constable at Humberside Police in 2021, and during his tenure as Chief Constable of Staffordshire Police in 2024 and 2025.
These investigations are in addition to serious allegations made last year concerning the sharing of information without proper policing purposes, referred by the Staffordshire Office for Police, Fire & Crime Commissioner.
Ben Adams, Staffordshire's Commissioner for Police, Fire & Rescue and Crime, states that consistent and thorough investigation of these serious allegations is crucial to maintain public confidence in the police service.
An IOPC spokesperson elaborated: "Our investigation will consider if he may have breached police professional standards relating to discreditable conduct and duties and responsibilities."
Currently, Mr. Noble has been suspended, and while notices of investigation have been served, this does not necessarily imply disciplinary proceedings will ensue.
A spokesperson for the Chief Police Officers Staff Association (CPOSA) stated, regarding the fresh allegations, that Noble "continues to engage fully with the IOPC investigation." and that "No further comment will be made at this time."
Back in August, Chris Noble's representatives asserted he "completed and categorically denied" any wrongdoing and his commitment to cooperating with the ongoing investigation.
