Witnesses sought after serious stabbing in Stafford
Police are investigating after a man was assaulted

A man in his 60s is in a critical condition following a stabbing in Stafford, and authorities are appealing for information from the public.
The incident occurred at around 7pm on 14 May on a public footpath on Newport Road, near the golf club.
The man had been walking in the Castlefields area from Redgrave Drive towards Stafford Castle when he was approached from behind by an unknown man and assaulted.
He was discovered on a bench by a passerby who alerted the police.
Emergency responders, including West Midlands Ambulance Service, the Midlands Air Ambulance, and the National Police Air Service, attended the scene.
The victim was transported to the hospital via land ambulance, where he remains in critical condition.
The suspect is described as a man aged in his mid to late 20s, potentially of Eastern European heritage, of an average build, wearing dark clothing.
A large police presence remains in the area as officers conduct inquiries.
