Two arrested after metal pole swung at taxi during Shelton disorder

Police say they believe the incident to be isolated

Two men have been arrested following disorder in Shelton, Stoke-on-Trent.

Officers have been investigating after being called to Stoke Road shortly after 2.50pm on Monday 28th September, following a report of a group of men fighting in the street.

One of the men appeared to be holding a metal pole, and was seen swinging it at a taxi that was parked up, Staffordshire Police said.

The passenger in the front seat of the taxi, and another man, were assaulted.

The passenger left the scene in the car, while the suspect with the metal pole got into another car, an Audi, and also left the scene.

On Thursday 1st October, police arrested a 27-year-old man from Stoke-on-Trent on suspicion of violent disorder.

He was questioned in custody and bailed with conditions.

On Friday 2nd October, officers arrested a 26-year-old man, also from Stoke-on-Trent, on suspicion of violent disorder.

He will be questioned in custody.

At this stage of the investigation, police believe this to be an isolated incident.
