Two jailed for robbing man with stick and hammer in Stoke-on-Trent

Two men have been jailed after they robbed a man and assaulted him with a stick and a hammer in Stoke-on-Trent.

Stoke-on-Trent Crown court heard how on 23 December 2025, the victim was lured to a home in Burslem by 41-year-old James Rogers.

Once inside, Rogers and 36-year-old Kaayn Beech attacked the man using a wooden stick and a steel claw hammer.

The victim was left with a broken arm, a broken nose, a broken finger, head wounds and extensive bruising, which required treatment in A&E.

He was left without £500 in cash, a wallet, a watch, a mobile phone and a coat.

Rogers and Beech made off with the items, before being arrested shortly after the robbery was reported.

Their sentences

Rogers, of Ball Green, Stoke-on-Trent pleaded guilty to Section 18 – grievous bodily harm with intent.

He's been jailed for four years, with further counts of robbery and theft from the person of another to remain on his file.

Beech, of Tunstall, Stoke-on-Trent pleaded not guilty to Section 18 – grievous bodily harm with intent but was found guilty by a jury.

He's been jailed for four-years-and-two-months.
