Thousands of people are expected to attend events in almost all towns and villages across Staffordshire and Cheshire to mark Armistice Day and Remembrance Sunday.
As part of this year’s commemorations, Staffordshire County Council’s Archives Service will be sharing documents and photos from when Staffordshire’s local memorials were first set up in the 1920s.
The Lord Lieutenant for Staffordshire, Professor Liz Barnes CBE, will attend the Remembrance Sunday Open Air Service, Wreath Laying and Parade at Civic Centre Stafford on Sunday 9 November and a special Armistice Day Service on Tuesday 11 November at the National Memorial Arboretum. She will also attend the Festival of Remembrance at the Royal Albert Hall on Saturday 8 November.

In Newcastle-under-Lyme, a church service – involving forces representatives, local organisations and other civic guests – is being held at St. Giles’ Church, Newcastle.
The pipes and drums of the Black Watch Association once again lead a parade from Queens Gardens at 9.35am.
A wreath laying ceremony and the act of remembrance, including a two-minute silence, takes place at the war memorial in Red Lion Square at 11am.
