Check out which areas are getting the extra cash
Stoke-on-Trent is set to see substantial upgrades to local neighbourhoods, as the first wave of projects funded by the £1.5 million Pride in Place Impact Fund has been announced.
The aim of the fund is to enhance community spaces and public areas city-wide, making them more inviting and fostering local pride. The projects include:
Installation of gym equipment at Mace Street Park, Trent Vale (£10,000)
Development of sporting facilities at Waterdale Park, Longton (£10,000)
Refurbishment of Ball Green Park, with new equipment and bench (£9,650)
Beautification efforts to clean and paint at Milton Park (£1,000)
These initial projects mark the beginning of a series of improvements across the city, designed to create cleaner, safer, and more welcoming environments for residents to enjoy public spaces.
Councillor Jane Ashworth, leader of Stoke-on-Trent City Council, emphasised the fund's local impact, saying, "The money is being invested rapidly and directly into the spaces that matter most to residents and community organisations and will empower local people."
Additionally, a broader funding plan is underway, with up to £60 million earmarked for targeted investment in Meir North, Bentilee and Ubberley, and Bradeley, Chell Heath, and Fegg Hayes. These areas have been identified as in need of focused developmental efforts by government ministers.
The Pride in Place Impact Fund will operate until March 2027, delivering projects in phases to effectively revitalise Stoke-on-Trent's neighbourhoods.
