A man from Stoke-on-Trent has been jailed for four years after admitting to a number of thefts, burglaries and assaulting an emergency worker.

The court heard how 28-year-old Mason McLatchie, who's from Hanley, burgled a house, stole a Range Rover Sport from a car park, and stole from shops in Stoke-on-Trent.

He pleaded guilty to: burglary dwelling and theft, theft from a shop, theft of a car, theft by finding, criminal damage, assault by beating of an emergency worker, and two counts of burglary other than dwelling.

A Staffordshire police spokesperson said, "On Saturday 4 May 2024, McLatchie forced entry into a house in Stoke-on-Trent and stole a designer jacket, mobile phone and music speaker.

"Three days later, he stole goods from a shop in Hanley and on Thursday 30 May 2024 he stole a Range Rover Sport from a car park in Stoke-on-Trent.

"The car was spotted on Hanley Road on the same day and when officers tried to stop it, the driver, later identified as McLatchie, drove over a kerb and down an embankment. The car was returned to the owner with no damage.

"Between Tuesday 4 June 2024 and Friday 14 June 2024, he stole various goods including a handbag, a yellow hard hat and orange high viz and a card reader. He also damaged shutters at Intu Potteries Centre."

McLatchie has also been banned from entering various businesses in Stoke-on-Trent for five years as part of his criminal behaviour order.
