49-year-old, Simon Carter, will go trial next year for murder. It follows an investigation into the death of a woman in Macclesfield.

Carter is due to appear at Chester Crown Court on 12 January 2026 for a one-week trial.

The trial associates with an investigation into the death of 72-year-old Gwyneth Carter. She died at her home on Pearson Street in Macclesfield on 16 July 2025.

Carter currently remains detained under the Mental Health Act.

Cheshire Police continue to search for a backpack, red t-shirt, blue t-shirt and trainers. They are appealing for any information that may support their investigation.
