A man has been jailed, after he controlled a woman and threatened to blow her house up in Stoke-on-Trent.

Jake Steven Miller, 38, of Hanley, Stoke-on-Trent, was sentenced to four years and six-months behind bars at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court on Tuesday 23 June.

He previously admitted engaging in controlling and coercive behaviour and threats to kill.

In May last year, the victim, a woman, reported that Miller had threatened to kill her and her family.

She reported that over the past six months, Miller had controlled her and threatened her numerous times.

In one occasion, Miller threatened to blow up her house.

Miller was arrested and denied the offences when he was interviewed in custody, but later pleaded guilty in court when faced with the evidence against him.

PC Alicia Tierney, who investigated the case, said: “We do not underestimate the impact that Miller’s actions had on the victim and I am glad we were able to secure a jail term to reflect his offending."
