Police are appealing for witnesses after a van crossed into the path of a car on the M6, leaving three people in hospital.

The crash happened at around 3.30am on 27th October.

Police said a Mercedes Sprinter van was travelling along the southbound carriageway when it crossed from lane one into the northbound carriageway and into the path of an MG HS.

The drivers of both vehicles and a passenger from the MG were taken to hospital.

Two people had minor injuries and a third has potentially serious injuries.

The driver of the van was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and drug driving.

He has been bailed pending further enquiries.

PC Scott Simons said: "I'd urge anyone who witnessed the driving of the van in the run up to the collision to contact me. The same goes for anyone with dash cam footage."

Anyone with information can contact Cheshire Police on 101 or through the force's website, quoting IML 2446193.
