Longton's former Barclays Bank to become community arts hub
Historic building receives funding for transformation into cultural centre
A historic building in Longton, vacant since 2021, is set to be revitalised into a thriving community arts centre thanks to a £53,633 grant from the Pride in Place Impact Fund.
Wild Edge Arts will lead the transformation of the former Barclays Bank on The Strand, establishing it as a permanent home for its cultural and creative programmes.
Wild Edge Arts emphasised the significance of the new space, stating, "The impact of this new community space for Longton will reach far beyond its walls, supporting delivery of high impact community projects like the Longton Carnival and Pig Walk Parade, Longton Town Forum, our thriving youth programme, and our December Winter Odyssey in Queen’s Park."
This project is part of a broader initiative supported by the £1.5 million Pride in Place Impact Fund. Nominated by members of the public, the fund aims to improve community spaces, parks, high streets, and public places throughout the city.
