Investigation continues into Leek mill fire months after blaze
Detectives are still working to establish what caused the fire at Mill Street
An investigation into a fire at a mill in Leek is continuing more than five months after the blaze broke out, according to Staffordshire Police.
Officers were called to Mill Street in Leek at 9:35pm on Friday 27th March, after a fire was reported at the site.
Road closures were put in place and people living nearby were supported after being evacuated from their homes as a precaution while firefighters worked to put out the fire.
Two men questioned as part of enquiries
Detectives from the force's criminal investigation department have been working on the case for a number of months, according to Staffordshire Police.
An 18-year-old man from Leek was arrested on suspicion of arson with recklessness as to whether life was endangered.
He has since been removed from conditional bail and released under investigation.
A second man, aged 18 and from Stoke-on-Trent, has been voluntarily interviewed as part of the enquiries.
Cause of fire not yet determined
Staffordshire Police said the cause of the fire has not been determined because of the extent of the damage at the scene.
The force is continuing to urge anyone with information who has not already come forward to get in touch.
