Over the summer, Stoke-on-Trent's Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) programme successfully delivered 3,235 hours of activities for children during the school holidays.

Organised by The Hubb Foundation and supported by the city council, the Summer HAF provided 27,141 opportunities for children to engage in enjoyable activities accompanied by nutritious meals.

A total of 823 sessions were held, including 34 external trips and 333 school sessions.

Overall, the programme collaborated with 164 organisations throughout Stoke-on-Trent and surrounding areas over a 30-day delivery period.

An investment of £50,000 from the city council, backed by the government's Crisis Resilience Fund, further enhanced the programme by providing additional meals and activities for children and young people in the city.

Councillor Sarah Jane Colclough, cabinet member for children’s services at Stoke-on-Trent City Council, stated: "Summer HAF 2026 has been hugely successful, with many children enjoying themselves, forming connections, and having fun while receiving healthy meals."

Adam Yates, Chief Operating Officer at The Hubb Foundation, added: "The programme aims to raise children's aspirations and broaden their horizons, offering something for everyone regardless of their interests.

The healthy food aspect of HAF is crucial, as collaborating with ten new catering providers in the local community has helped ensure every child receives a nutritious meal at each session."
