A new initiative in Stoke-on-Trent is seeking to empower young girls in one of the city's most deprived areas by using creative arts and drama.

The Girls Can project, hosted by the New Vic Theatre's Borderlines, is offering workshops tailored specifically for girls aged 10 to 12 living in Bentilee.

These free sessions are held at the Bentilee Family Hub every Monday from 4.00 to 5.30pm.

Participants will have the chance to explore their identity, build confidence, and encourage self-expression.

The workshops provide a platform for sharing experiences and voicing perspectives in a safe and accessible environment.

Young women will engage in creative forms such as drawing, singing, drama, photography, and mixed media, guided by specialist creative practitioners.

These activities offer opportunities to explore personal ideas and aspirations, embracing individual potential in a supportive space.

The Girls Can project aims to inspire young women to develop new friendships and leadership skills while fostering their expressive abilities.

Free refreshments are available during the sessions.
