Stoke-on-Trent City Council have confirmed the Dimensions Leisure Centre café on Scotia Road will remain open after backlash over plans to close it.
The council proposed replacing the café with vending machines as part of budget-saving measures for 2026/27.
It was expected to save £93,000 a year.
Council leaders have now agreed to keep the café open.
The U-turn follows backlash from residents and a public consultation, which revealed 'strong community support to keep the café.'
Over 200 people had signed a petition, too.
"The community have spoken with a clear voice - and we have listened" Cllr Sarah Hill said.
Other money saving proposals are to be discussed by the council.
