A 44-year-old woman has been sentenced to jail following a spate of thefts across Burton-upon-Trent.

Claire Broome, from Stapenhill, received a 16-week jail term at the North Staffordshire Justice Centre on 30th June.

Broome admitted to 15 counts of shop theft, five counts of breaching a criminal behaviour order, and one count of stealing a pedal cycle.

Over a three-month period, between 21st March and 21st June, goods valued around £670 were taken from local shops, along with a bicycle worth £345 stolen from a residence in Burton-upon-Trent.

Georgina Brudzinska, problem solving lead of the east Staffordshire local policing team, commented, “We do not underestimate the impact that theft has on local businesses and will continue to act against those responsible."

Staffordshire Police's commitment to addressing such crimes remains firm as they pursue justice and offer support to affected business owners.
