Campaigners aim to make vapes 'duller' in shops across South Yorkshire

It's to try and stop young people from ever starting

There's a call for 'plain packaging' to be brought in at vape shops in the UK - including across South Yorkshire & North Derbyshire.

Campaigners argue it'll make them less appealing to thousands of young people - who're at risk of picking up the habit.

Holly Minney works at a vape store in Sheffield city centre - she says the problem does need looking at:

"At the minute, a vape packaging is very colourful.

"It is to try and catch your eye - but it is still catching children's eyes - which isn't a good thing.

"If they made the packaging as bleak and bland as possible, then children won't want it.

"I can't change the packaging right now to stop children wanting to vape - which isn't great.

"I can't stop children looking at these products when really they shouldn't be anywhere near them.

"A lot of people that I grew up with started on vaping because of the flavours.

"Things like raspberry peach flavours are more appealing than a cigarette to most people these days."

Other things like putting restrictions on shop displays could be considered moving forwards.
