A third murder arrest has been made as detectives continue to investigate the death of Betty Clark.

Yesterday (Tuesday 9 June), detectives in South Yorkshire Police's Major Crime Unit (MCU) made a third arrest as part of their investigation into the death of 91-year-old Betty Clark.

A 56-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder. He has been bailed pending further enquiries.

Elizabeth, who is more fondly known as Betty, was found with serious injuries in her home on Peveril Close on 11 September 2025, which required hospital treatment. She sadly died as a result of these injuries on 12 November 2025.

Senior Investigating Officer, Detective Inspector Adam Watkinson, explains more:

"We have been conducting several lines of enquiry, including trawling through hours of CCTV, speaking to possible witnesses and anyone in the area at the time Betty sustained her injuries.

"Betty is missed greatly by those who knew her. She was well-loved within her community, by many friends and neighbours.

"Yesterday's arrest moves us one step closer to finding the answers that Betty's family deserve."

Two men, aged 36 and 47, who were both arrested on suspicion of murder remain on police bail.

DI Watkinson continues:

"Although our investigation is progressing at pace, we are still interested to hear from anyone who thinks they may have information that could assist in our enquiries.

"Were you in the Kiveton park area of Rotherham between 10 and 16 September 2025 and noticed something that seemed off or slightly suspicious? Please get in touch - the information you hold could be the key missing link we need."
