The Moor Market is reopening today to customers in Sheffield.

It's after huge deep clean from the Council after reports of cockroaches there.

The Council say they understand it's been a hard time for businesses and traders.

Councillor Mark Rusling, Chair of the Environmental Services and Regulation Policy Committee at Sheffield City Council:

"I am pleased to confirm that Moor Market will reopen to customers on Monday.

"Following an extensive programme of treatment, deep cleaning and monitoring, we have now seen two consecutive days with no pest activity. Environmental Health officers and specialist pest control contractors are satisfied that the market can safely reopen to the public. The market will continue to be monitored, and enhanced prevention measures will remain in place as an additional safeguard.

"I would like to thank market traders, Council staff and specialist contractors for the tremendous effort they have put in over recent weeks. Reaching this point has been a real team effort. Traders have worked tirelessly to clean and prepare their units, support the treatment programme and help ensure the market is ready to welcome customers back.

"We know this closure has been incredibly difficult for traders and their businesses. We recognise the impact it has had and remain committed to supporting traders as the market moves into its recovery phase.

"The market is home to some of Sheffield's best independent businesses, and we are looking forward to welcoming customers back through the doors. If you've not visited for a while, next week is the perfect time to come back, support local traders and see everything the market has to offer.

"We are grateful to customers and traders for their patience and understanding during this period. Our focus now is on looking forward, reopening successfully and supporting traders to recover and thrive in the weeks and months ahead."
