Sheffield United faced another setback in their Championship campaign as Wrexham secured a dramatic 2-1 comeback win at Bramall Lane.

Despite leading the match with Andre Brooks’ 49th-minute goal, Sheffield United could not hold their advantage as Wrexham's Josh Windass, assisted by Sam Smith, leveled the score.

Windass then delivered the winning blow with a header in the 78th minute, leaving Sheffield United audience deflated and Wrexham jubilant.

Chris Wilder, Sheffield United's manager said: “Wrexham found a way to win, they had that quality, and we found a way to lose."

“The first 10-15 minutes they found some opportunities and then after that for me we had the lion’s share of control of possession and chances but we have to score and take advantage of our good play."

Sheffield United's inability to capitalise on early chances, including efforts from Patrick Bamford and Harrison Burrows, compounded their woes as they failed to extend their lead.

Wilder noted the team's temporary dominance, saying, “We really should have been out of sight because we had our foot on their throat for half an hour and the first five or 10 minutes of the second half.”

With the team's winless run extending to four matches and 13 points away from the top six, the play-off push looks increasingly unlikely for Sheffield United.

Meanwhile, Wrexham reignited their Championship play-off hopes with this victory, maintaining momentum after the setback against Watford.
