Five men arrested after street fight involving weapons in Sheffield

Police were called to a brawl in the Page Hall area yesterday

Police have arrested five men after a fight involving weapons in the Page Hall area of Sheffield.

This happened on Firth Park Road at around 4.30pm yesterday, when a group of people armed with wooden poles and other items were reported to be fighting in the street.

Officers arrived within minutes of a 999 call, with the group subsequently running aaway.

One officer suffered a minor injury after being hit by a thrown object, though no further injuries were reported.

Five men aged 19, 31, 35, 37, and 53 have been arrested on suspicion of violent disorder.

A remain in police custody.

Sheffield Chief Superintendent Jamie Henderson of South Yorkshire Police said:

“This level of disorder and violence will not be tolerated and has no place in our community.

“We are working at pace to identify those involved and will be taking enforcement action."

“Today (3rd February), officers will remain in the area, with additional officers supporting their actions, reviewing footage and providing intelligence to make further arrests."

“If you have any concerns, they are there to speak to, please do not hesitate to stop and talk.”
