A Sheffield man has been sentenced to nine years and nine months in prison following two incidents involving firearms.

37 year old Marcus Ned carried out a targeted attack in April 2025, first shooting at a property on Daniel Hill Street.

This was followed by a motorcyclist being knocked off his bike and shot at on Rivelin Valley Road.

Through witness statements and CCTV, officers identified the Ned's vehicles at the scenes.

Armed response teams in an attempt to arrest Ned at home, with him attempting to escape by climbing down from a two-story flat and leading officers on a foot chase.

A search of the property revealed a firearm and ammunition matching the cartridges found at both crime scenes.

Ned, of Fairburn Place, admitted to two counts of possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence and one count of attempted grievous bodily harm.

DC Hughes, of South Yorkshire Police's Armed Crime Team, said:

"We have seen firsthand in South Yorkshire the damage firearms can cause, and this sentencing shows that anyone intent on becoming involved in firearm-related criminality will be found and dealt with by the courts.

"We continue to urge anyone with information on the use of firearms in South Yorkshire to get in touch with us. You - our local communities - are vital in helping us tackling gun crime. If you know something, tell us so we can act on it."
