Two Sheffield drug dealers have been sent to prison after police shut down three drugs lines selling Class A substances in the city.

It comes after an investigation into the 'Frank' 'Mario' and 'Arab' lines which were operating in the Upperthorpe area.

Phone lines used to order drugs were traced back to 26 year old Ahmed Ahmed, of Handsworth Road, who was managing an operation which sold approximately £400,000 worth of crack and heroin.

28 year old Kardo Ali, of Liverpool, was arrested at Ahmed's home during a raid and was later found to be a dealer working for Ahmed.

Ahmed will serve seven years and seven months behind bars for being concerned in the supply of heroin, being concerned in the supply of crack cocaine and acquiring / using / possessing criminal property.

Ali will serve three years after he pleaded guilty to being concerned in the supply of heroin and being concerned in the supply of crack cocaine.

Detective Constable Kevin Sibley, of South Yorkshire Police, said:

"The evidence unearthed in this investigation clearly showed the scale of Ahmed and Ali's offending.

"The pair helped flood Sheffield with vast quantities of drugs, wreaking havoc on our local communities.

"We know that drugs perpetuates the commission of other crimes and often feeds into organised crime groups, making it a priority to ensure those involved in drugs lines are swiftly caught and brought to justice.

"If you suspect drug dealing is happening near where you live, report it to us. Your information could lead to harmful offenders being taken off the streets."
