A teenager has admitted causing the death of a man in Rotherham, after ramming into a Land Rover in which he was a passenger.

Owen Cocksedge, 19 and of HMP Doncaster, has pleaded guilty to manslaughter following the killing of 20-year-old Mackenzie Ball in June 2024.

He also admitted to two counts of Section 20 assault at Sheffield Crown Court.

The incident occurred at the junction of Morthen Road and Moat Lane, involving a silver Land Rover Discovery and a silver Subaru Forester.

Cocksedge was hehind the wheel of the Suburu, which rammed into a silver Land Rover after an altercation between the occupants of the two vehicles.

He'll be sentenced at a later date, while three other men are yet to enter pleas in the case.

Detective Inspector Matt Bolger of South Yorkshire Police said: "Mackenzie was a young man who had his whole life ahead of him and since his death, my thoughts have been with his family and friends.

"We have worked around the clock to build up a picture of what happened in the lead-up to Mackenzie's death, and to find those who were involved.

"My deepest condolences remain with Mackenzie's loved ones - their patience and dignity throughout this investigation has been remarkable."

Three other men charged in connection with Mackenzie's death are scheduled to appear at Sheffield Crown Court on June 8.
