Four men charged over Rotherham crash death in 2024

Four men have been charged over the death of 20-year-old Mackenzie Ball in Rotherham almost two years ago.

Mackenzie was fatally injured in a crash on June 2 2024, shortly after 4pm, when two vehicles collided on Morthen Road at the junction with Moat Lane.

Mackenzie, a passenger in a Land Rover Discovery, died at the scene.

Owen Cocksedge, 19, currently at HMP Doncaster, faces multiple charges including manslaughter, causing death by dangerous driving, driving while unlicensed/uninsured, causing death by driving while disqualified, two counts of causing serious injury by dangerous driving, and driving a motor vehicle dangerously.

Kowen Pitts, 21, and Adam Platts, 20, both from Sheffield, are charged with manslaughter.

Deacon Blake, 18, also from Sheffield, is facing charges of manslaughter and Section 18 GBH.

All four men are remanded in custody and scheduled to appear at Sheffield Magistrates' Court today (March 6).
