Ramadan begins for Muslims across South Yorkshire & North Derbyshire
It's set to last for the next month

The first day of fasting is underway for Muslims in South Yorkshire & North Derbyshire.
It's following the start of Ramadan overnight - which's due to last until Eid next month.
The tradition involves not eating or drinking from sunrise until sunset.
Ameena Blake is a Muslim Community Leader in Sheffield:
"Take it easy on yourself - make sure that you manage your time and diet properly.
"Have a nice bowl of porridge in the morning before you start fasting, as the slow release of energy throughout the day will keep you going.
"From a physical and psychological perspective, you actually feel more energised after a few days.
"You end up feeling really positive and bouncy during the month of Ramadan - from my experiences of it.
"We believe that the Qur'an was actually revealed in the month of Ramadan, and that is kind of what the month is about.
"It's all about improving our relationship with God - with increasing acts of worship - and things like that.
"Looking after your neighbours is a massive thing in Islam, and that's an important thing for Muslim's to focus on during the month of Ramadan."
Ramadan is expected to finish around the 20th of March 2026 - depending on when the new moon is spotted.
