Police are appealing for witnesses and footage after two people died in a crash in Rotherham.

Emergency services were called to East Bawtry Road at around 6.43pm on Saturday (26 September) after a white BMW 3 Series left the road while travelling towards Worry Goose and collided with a lamppost.

Both occupants were pronounced dead at the scene. Their identities have not yet been formally confirmed.

Officers believe the BMW had been travelling alongside a blue BMW 4 Series shortly before the collision.

A man has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and has since been released on police bail.

Police are urging anyone who witnessed the crash or has dashcam, mobile phone or other footage of either vehicle before the collision to come forward.
