Police were called to the Clifton area on Monday night
Two men have been arrested in Rotherham after a gun was fired on Monday night.
Police were called to Middle Lane in the Clifton area at 11.01pm after receiving reports of shots being fired.
Officers, including specially trained firearms personnel, attended the scene.
Two men were taken into custody on suspicion of possession of firearms with intent on Tuesday (March 10).
Police also seized a suspected shotgun.
A man in his 40s suffered a minor injury during the incident, though it is not believed to have been caused by a gun.
Police scenes have been in place on Middle Lane and Far Lane, with officers conducting further enquiries, including gathering CCTV footage and speaking to witnesses.
Detective Inspector Matt Barnes, of South Yorkshire Police, said:
“Everyone should be concerned about gun crime, as every time someone pulls a trigger, innocent lives are put at risk."
"Absolutely anyone could get caught in the crossfire and that is why we need the public's support to help us get these dangerous weapons and individuals off our streets.
"People living in the Middle Lane and Far Lane areas will continue to see an increased presence of officers in your communities today and over the next couple of days.
"They are there to support you if you have any queries or concerns and please don't be afraid to speak to them if you see them out and about.
"We are really grateful to those who have already provided information and intelligence to us, but we now need to hear from anyone else who knows something about this incident and is yet to report it to us."
