Police investigating the fatal shooting of Shanice Brookes in Sheffield have released images of several people they want to speak to.

If happened on Bank Holiday Monday.

Officers say the images show people in the area at the time of the shooting who are believed to have witnessed the incident, however Police stress they do not believe they were actively involved.

Police are hoping they have information which could help them with their investigation.

Detectives also say the gun used is still on the streets and are appealing for anyone who knows where it is to tell them.

Two people have previously been charged in connection with the 30 year old's death.

Senior Investigating Officer, Detective Inspector Matt Bolger, said:

"Shanice was a young woman who was simply out enjoying a night out on the Bank Holiday weekend, exactly as she should have been able to, when her life was taken away from her in an instant.

“While Shanice has loving family and friends who are rallying around her little boy, he will now grow up without the love, warmth and guidance of his mum. A family has been left devastated in a way that no family should ever experience.

“We know there were people in the area who saw what happened before and after the shooting. CCTV shows them clearly and they were close enough to understand the seriousness of what unfolded. Yet despite our appeal, nobody has come forward to tell us what they saw.

“Today, I am releasing images of individuals we believe can help us. These people are not suspects. They are witnesses - witnesses who may hold information that could help us deliver justice for a young mother and her family.

“I am asking each of them, and anyone who recognises them, to consider their own conscience and remember that a child has been robbed of his mum. A family is living every day with a grief they did not deserve. If you know something, however small, please do the right thing and come forward.

“I also want to speak directly to those involved in criminality in this city. The gun used to kill Shanice is still on the streets. This weapon has already taken the life of a completely innocent woman who was simply out enjoying her evening. It could be used again. If you know where this gun is, or who has it, you have a moral responsibility to tell us.

“If you have been forced to hold this weapon, or you are in fear, you can contact us in confidence. We will listen. We will protect you.

“However, let me be absolutely clear - if we find you hiding this gun, you will face the full force of the law. You will regret choosing to protect a weapon that has killed a young mother. This is bigger than criminal rivalries or loyalties. A young mother is dead. A child has no mother because of this gun. Do the right thing. Tell us where it is before it destroys another family."
