Three men jailed after Sheffield raids uncovers drugs and firearms
Police seized heroin worth £1.13m
Three men have been jailed after raids in Sheffield last year uncovered Class A drugs - as well as a blank firing guns which had been converted to fire real bulletins.
Oliver Hughes, Suqlain Hussain, and Graham Mcilhagga were identified in October last year as key figures in the supply of Class A drugs in the city.
Police carried out raids and managed to seize heroin worth £1.13 million and cocaine valued at £154,000, alongside equipment for vacuum packing and moulding.
Several firearms were also found, including a black rifle, a converted black pistol, and magazines with ammunition.
All three men were arrested for conspiracy to supply drugs, and Mcilhagga faced additional firearms possession charges.
All pleaded guilty to the charges on December 12, leading to a combined prison sentence of 20 years being handed down today, May 8.
Mcilhagga, 59, received an eight-year sentence for conspiracy to supply drugs and multiple firearms possession charges.
Hughes, 35, was sentenced to six years and eight months, while Hussain, 26, received five years and four months—both for conspiracy to supply Class A drugs.
Investigating Officer Graham Wall of South Yorkshire Police said:
“The case was led by the intelligence submitted to the force and further gathered by officers.
“Mcilhagga was in possession of three firearms which were stored in his vehicle, two of these being viable, lethal weapons.
“Our work to bring illicit weapons and drugs off the streets continues, and we continue to urge you to submit information to us if you suspect something is amiss. Your intelligence can result in thugs such as these men being placed behind bars.”
