Sheffield man jailed for 23 years after stabbing man in the neck
This is after a man was slashed in the neck in Hoyland last March
A Sheffield man will serve 23 years behind bars for attempted murder after stabbing another man in the neck last year.
22 year old Lewis Parker, of Keppel Road, drew the knife from his waistband during a fight on Market Street in Hoyland on March 14 2025, before slashing his victim in the neck.
He was later lined to the scene by witnesses and CCTV footage.
Parker has been convicted of attempted murder and also admitted charges of possession of an offensive weapon and of Class B and C drugs earlier in the trial at Sheffield Crown Court.
Detective Constable Angela Bowen of South Yorkshire Police said: "Parker inflicted serious harm on his victim before callously fleeing the scene."
"The damage Parker caused was so severe that doctors have said the victim was lucky to be alive following the violent attack.
"This incident is another reminder of the damage carrying a knife can cause. We remain committed to rooting out knife crime, removing these dangerous weapons from our streets and keeping our county a safe place to live, work and visit for everyone."
