Arrests made in connection with altercation before fatal West Street shooting
Three men have been arrested in connection with an altercation that took place just before the fatal shooting of Shanice Brookes in Sheffield.
The 30-year-old died after the incident in May outside One Four One bar on West Street.
Police say they have been working to establish what happened before the shooting and say three people have now been arrested on suspicion of affray.
A Police statement said: "Three men have been arrested in connection with an altercation that took place immediately prior to the fatal shooting of Shanice Brookes in Sheffield.
"On Monday 25 May, shortly before 2.45am, we received reports that 30-year-old Shanice had been shot outside of One Four One bar on West Street. Sadly, despite the best efforts of officers and medical personnel, Shanice died a short time later in hospital.
"The shooting followed an altercation on Eldon Street, near to the junction with West Hill Street, to which Shanice was a completely innocent bystander.
"Detectives have been hard at work exploring lines of enquiries to fully understand the events leading up to this tragic incident.
"As part of these enquiries two 21-year-old men and a 31-year-old man, all from Rotherham, have been arrested on suspicion of affray. They have been bailed pending further enquiries."
Senior Investigating Officer, Detective Inspector Matt Bolger said:
"We are determined to provide answers for Shanice's family and friends who have had their lives shattered by this heartbreaking and devastating incident.
"Words cannot do justice to describe the unimaginable loss Shanice's loved ones have experienced and we remain committed to securing justice for them.
"These arrests relate to an altercation that took place shortly before a firearm was discharged and Shanice was sadly fatally shot. We continue to explore every line of enquiry and will leave no stone unturned in our efforts to get justice for Shanice.
"Since our investigation launched, two people have been charged in connection with the shooting and we are continuing to appeal to anyone that saw what happened and hasn't come forward already to do so.
"I am also urging anyone with information on the weapon used to kill Shanice to contact us. Every time a trigger is pulled unbearable tragedies unfold. Do the right thing. Don't stay silent."
