A man has been jailed after a handprint left at the scene saw him linked to a violent assault in Hexthorpe.

26 year old Macauly Burdis will serve a 32 month term over the attack on June 2 2025, as well as drugs offences in 2024.

During the incident last year a man was chased down Ramsden Road in Hexthorpe by a group of men before being seriously assaulted.

He needed surgery for his injuries.

The group fled the scene in a black Audi A3 which was owned by Burdis. During the incident the driver of the Audi was seen putting his hand on a nearby parked car, with this handprint later determined to belong to the 26 year old.

Burdis admitted inflicting grievous bodily harm without intent, as well as possession with intent to supply a Class A drug after being caught with cocaine in October 2024.

Detective Constable Molly Simm, of South Yorkshire Police, said:

"Burgis is a violent man who took part in an unprovoked attack. We have worked hard to ensure that Burgis face's justice for his heinous actions and we are glad he is now behind bars where he cannot cause further harm."
