Man found guilty of murder after man dies following Barnsley stabbing

A 23-year-old man has been found guilty of murder, after a man was stabbed to death during a fight in Barnsley 18 months ago.

Emergency services were called to Burton Road in the Monk Bretton area of Barnsley on September 1 2024, responding to reports of a violent altercation.

41 year old Alan Sutton was discovered with stab wounds to his chest and was pronounced dead at the scene.

23 year old Callum Strachan has now been convicted of murder, following a two week trial at Sheffield Crown Court.

Strachan also faced accusations related to a stabbing in Grimsby back in June 2024.

Strachan, of Burton Road, was also found guilty of possession of a blade, threatening a person with a blade, and s18 wounding with intent.

He'll be sentenced on February 20.
