Man charged with murder over 2006 Sheffield shooting

It comes after the killing of Ibrahim Ilyas in Pitsmoor in June 2006

A man has been charged with murder in connection with a fatal shooting in Sheffield in 2006.

20 year old Ibrahim Ilyas was shot and killed while sat in a car on Abbeyfield Road on June 3 2006.

Two other men were also injured in the incident.

Faiser Hussain, 44, of no fixed abode, was arrested at Manchester Airport on 7th March on suspicion of murder.

He has been charged with murder and two counts of attempted murder.

Hussain appeared at Sheffield Magistrates' Court on March 9 and has been remanded into custody.

He is scheduled to appear at Sheffield Crown Court tomorrow.

Ibrahim's family has been informed about the developments and is receiving support from police officers.

A man was jailed for life in 2007 for Ibrahim's murder.

Senior Investigating Officer, Detective Chief Inspector Tom Woodward of South Yorkshire Police said: "Ibrahim was a young man whose life was cut tragically short in the most devastating of circumstances."

"Our priority remains the same as it was almost 20 years ago, securing justice and providing answers for his loved ones."
