Major plans have been set out to redevelop Sheffield's Gleadless Valley, with 12 projects planned over the next decade to improve housing, community spaces, and transport links.

The new 'Vision' will be presented to Sheffield City Council later this month for approval.

It follows the failure of a £90m masterplan first announced in 2017, which was abandoned due to funding issues linked to the Covid-19 pandemic and Brexit.

Developed in collaboration with community organisations and the Gleadless Valley Regeneration Board, the programme includes:

- Construction of approximately 1,100 new homes and upgrades to hundreds more, including energy-efficient improvements

- Three new or improved community centres and hubs offering spaces for socialising, shopping, and working

- Redevelopment of four parks to enhance the Valley's green landscape

- Support for thousands of residents into jobs, apprenticeships, and training, focusing on local enterprise and skills

- Enhanced public transport and walking/cycling routes for better connectivity

- Cleaner and safer streets

Initial phases of the project, which are already fully funded, will focus on home refurbishments, improvements to community spaces, new play areas, and tackling issues like anti-social behaviour and fly-tipping.

Long-term initiatives will follow over the next 10 years.

Funding is yet to be secured for some aspects of the plan.
